SUMMARY:DJing basics - intensive workshop for beginners with Esshar
DESCRIPTION:Have you always wanted to learn how to DJ\, but don’t know where to start? In this two-day intensive workshop (5 hours each)\, you will learn the basics of digital DJing and gain a comprehensive insight into the technology\, theory and practice. \nRegistration only possible on the respective registration day!\n\nWhat you can expect:\n\n\n\nWhat is DJing? Introduction to the basics and tasks of DJs. \n\n\nSound carriers & formats: MP3\, WAV\, AIFF\, FLAC – what’s behind them?\n\n\nFind and organize music: Tips on online stores and USB formatting.\n\n\nDJ software: Introduction to Rekordbox and Traktor.\n\n\nTechnical DJ basics: beatmatching\, transitions\, counting bars\, BPM & cue.\n\n\nSound engineering basics: volume level\, signal flow\, gain\, equalizer (EQ)\, cable types and the importance of monitors.\n\n\nDevices and setups: Pioneer multi-player\, mixer\, laptop\, controller – functions and application.\n\n\nPractical part: Setting up a DJ setup together and trying it out on your own.\n\n\nTechnology recommendations: What’s worth getting started with?\n\n\n  \nYou will have the opportunity to try out what you have learned at several stations in a relaxed atmosphere and gain your own initial experience. \nAll you need to bring is curiosity\, a love of music and a self-identification with the term FLINTA* (women\, lesbians\, inter-\, non-binary\, trans and agender people). \nThe number of participants is limited to a maximum of 7 people per workshop in order to create a personal and pleasant learning atmosphere. The allocation of places in the workshop will be drawn by lot. SUMMARY:Lighting and technology workshop with Peta Devlin and Kristina Hoffmann
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we invite you to get a little insight into the world of (live) sound and lighting technology. \nThe approach is learning by doing – in one afternoon we will set up\, connect\, adjust and operate the sound and lighting equipment needed for a small concert room and stage together. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get to know the theory behind the practice. It will be intensive but also fun!   \nThe aim at the end is to do a sound check with a small band and to illuminate the stage and band well. And also to determine how closely these two areas work together to achieve a successful concert experience.  \nTopics and questions that we will address: \nSound\nHow do you set up a band on stage?\nWhat kind of equipment do we need and what is it for?\nHow is everything set up\, connected and wired?\nHow do I set up microphones?\nWhat is a DI box and why do I need it?\nWhat exactly happens at the mixing desk?\nHow is a sound check carried out?\nWhat is a good sound anyway? \nStage lighting\nWhat does light do to the stage atmosphere?\nWhich color combinations work and how?\nWhat is the best way to position stage lighting?\nHow can you achieve a great effect with well-placed light? \nA little insight for all those interested in sound and lighting technology in the live sector.
